The picture of the Victorian style house on this web site is the Dickson-Mock house, the current residence of Ora Mock and her husband Charles. In 1901, Mary Jane Dickson purchased the land to build her home for $860. She was the widow of Marmaduke N. DIckson Jr., who becaem a captain in the Confederate Army at the age of 20. His father, at the age of 53, was one of the "old men" killed in the Battle of Marianna. The house, built in 1902, is a two-story Qeen Anne style Victorian home built of heart pine with tower, turret, gazebo, gingerbread and spindles on the wrap-around porch. the interior features a cantilvevered staircase, seven fireplaces, molding with rosette motifs and pine floors. For 83 years, family members owned the home until 1985 when grandson Marmaduke "Duke" Dickson sold the house to Floyd Brewton, who began restoration and added a carriage house. Charles and Ora Mock purchased the home in 1997 and are continuing the restoration.
